ESOL LANGUAGE ARTS 6, 7, 8
The purpose of this course is
to provide beginning, intermediate, and advanced
English instruction in communication skills to
students with limited proficiency in English, and
to develop an awareness of the students’
cultures in relation to United States culture. The
content should include, but not be limited to,
instruction and practice in listening, speaking,
reading, writing, study skills, and the relation
of English proficiency to the working world.
ESOL LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, AND
WRITING SKILLS 6,7,8
The purpose of this course is
to provide instruction in developmental Language
Arts skills to native speakers of other languages.
Emphasis of instruction should be on reading,
vocabulary, writing, listening, and speaking
skills, and should include those delineated on the
"Class Summary Checklist of the Minimum Basic
Skills." The content should include, but not
be limited to, listening and speaking experiences,
reading skills within the context of selected
reading levels, vocabulary development, writing
instruction, analysis of sentence structure and
paragraphs, and study skills.
