
Introduction:
Football is a game that all Americans grow up with.
While it has been a predominantly male orientated sport more and more
schools have started flag football programs for girls. Florida High
Schools now offer tackle football for boys and flag football for girls
as varsity sports.
Objectives:

To obtain 40 minutes of cardiovascular and big
muscle activity.

To learn and practice the skills necessary to
compete and enjoy the game of flag football.

To learn the rules necessary to properly play the
game of flag football.

To learn how to co-exist with classmates and
become part of a team.

To learn about the various situations that arise
during a flag football game that can make your team successful.
Individual Skills Involved:

Catching a football.
-
Kicking a football.
-
Passing a football.
-
Pulling flags.
-
Running.
Class Flag Football Rules:
We will have 6-8 players on each team. Game will start
with the ball placed on a designated spot on the field. Teams will get four(4)
downs to get a first down or a touch-down. Two complete passes will
give you a first down. Defense cannot rush. The offense cannot run the
ball. The only thing the QB can do is pass the football. A player cannot catch two consecutive passes. There is NO: Blitz, Blocking, flag guarding, fumbles,
punts, stiff-arms. Everyone must be on sides before the ball is
snapped. Each play must start with the ball being hiked.
Coach Shore’s Thoughts:
No youngster should grow up in the United States
without learning something about American Football. If they haven’t
participated in a flag football unit at some time during their
education they are truly missing out on something special.
