Mr. Dave Strong
8th Grade Guidance Counselor
Middle school is a transitional period in the development of a child and may present some unique issues. Counselors help students with academic, personal, and social issues. As the eighth grade counselor at Tequesta Trace Middle, I am available to assist
students and parents with any questions, problems or concerns they may
have. Please feel free to contact me at (754)323-4400 if I may be of assistance.
HIGH SCHOOLS:
Assignment to a high school is based on where a
child lives. Parents have an option to apply for admission at various
magnet high schools that are available in Broward County. Parents need to fill
out an application if they are interested in having their child attend a
magnet high school. The application form is presently being revised and will be
available after December 27, 2004. All applications must be submitted to
the Magnet Programs Office by March 1, 2005.
CONFERENCES:
Parent conferences are one way to learn more about
how your child is doing in school. The purpose of any conference is to
share information and work together to have your child be more successful.
Conferences are held at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of each
week. Parents can arrange for a conference by calling the guidance office.
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRESS:
Tequesta Trace Middle has been selected to participate in the
national assessment of student skills and knowledge. A small number of our
8th grade students will be selected at random to take a reading and
writing test on January 29. The student scores will be used in developing
the "Nations Report Card".
