Welcome to Mrs. Dugger's 7th Grade Science Class
Room: Portable 11 E-Mail: jessica.dugger@browardschools.com
Grading Procedures Grading Scale 90 – 100 = A 80 – 89 = B 70 – 79 = C 60 – 69 = D 0 – 59 = F
Final Grade Your final grade will be determined based on points earned for each test, quiz, assignment, lab, project, folder check, agenda check and warm-up check. Go to Tequestatrace.net and click on the Pinnacle link to view your grades.
Test and Quizzes A Test will be given after the completion of each chapter. All test questions will come directly from class discussions, warm up questions and assignments. Tests will be out of 100 points. Quizzes will cover the chapter vocabulary and may include other information from the chapter. Quizzes will be out of 50 points.
Assignments and Homework Assignments done in the classroom or at home are required to be turned in on the due date. The amount of points each assignment is worth will be determined based on the difficulty of the assignment. Assignments must be turned in on the due date! I do not accept any late work.
Labs and Projects Lab grades will be determined by the students’ ability to follow lab procedures, behavior during the lab, the lab report and cleaning the work area after the lab is completed. It is very important that each student is well behaved during a lab. If a student is not willing to follow lab safety procedures or if he/she demonstrates poor behavior, he/she will be eliminated from the lab and will receive a zero. Projects may be given quarterly. Each project will have guidelines that must be followed. The amount of points each lab/project is worth will be determined based on the difficulty of the assignment.
Folder Checks Each student will have a duo tang folder with three rings that will be kept in our classroom. After each assignment is graded and passed back to the student the student will place their graded assignment into to the folder. After the completion of each chapter the students are required to bring home the folder and the parents are to check the assignments in the folder from the table of contents list. The parents are to sign the table of contents sheet acknowledging that they have seen their child’s folder and chapter work. When the student returns the signed folder table of contents on the due date they will receive 10 points.
Agendas Students are required to write down the daily agenda in their agenda books as soon as they enter the classroom. Agendas will be checked periodically throughout each quarter. Parents are encouraged to communicate to me through the agenda books. Agenda checks will be out of 10 points.
Warm-up Warm-ups will be presented on the overhead at the beginning of each class. Students must write the questions first then answer each question. If a student does not finish answering the questions in the time allotted, they must complete their warm-up for homework. Warm-up checks will be out of 20 points.
Absences: It is a good idea to have at least two homework buddies in the class. When you return from being absent, you are required to check the “While You Were Out” binder and get any missed assignments. Also, check my calendar at Tequestatrace.net for the agenda.
Make-ups Make-up sessions for test and quizzes will be given at a suitable time. You will be given two days to complete assignments and any work given on the day of your absence.
Materials students need and should have at all times! Notebook paper, blue/black ink pens, 2 red pens and 2 #2 pencils.
Materials requested to be donated to classroom I am asking that each student donate at least one of the “wish list” materials to the classroom. *One ream of computer paper *Hand sanitizer *Lysol wipes *Wet Ones
Classroom procedures - Be in your seat before the bell rings. - Immediately after the bell rings you are to copy the agenda on to your agenda book then begin the warm-up questions. - You will be given the first 10 minutes of class to copy the agenda and complete the warm-up questions. - We will begin the lesson for the day 10 minutes after the tardy bell rings.
Please view my calendar for up coming test and quizzes.
