Course Description
The purpose of this class is to provide instruction to develop the student’s reading skills through reading, listening, speaking, and writing. I plan to use a variety of text to enhance the student’s desire to become a lifelong reader!
Daily Procedure
The students will be expected to come in and follow the directions written on the board.
Rules – the students will be expected to follow the classroom rules:
• Raise your hand to speak or to get out of your seat.
• Leave gum, food, and drinks outside the classroom.
• Respect one another and one another’s belongings.
• Arrive on time prepared for class.
• Use your best manners to behave appropriately.
Consequences – if the rules are not obeyed, the following consequences will be enforced:
• Verbal warning.
• Writing assignment.
• Contact Parent/Guardian.
• Detention.
• Administrative referral.
**The student receives a clean slate every quarter.

Assignments
-Assignments below an 70% require a parent signature.
-10% of the total points will automatically be deducted from assignments without a name.
-Late assignments will ONLY be taken one day late and graded at 60% rather than 100%.
Grades
Due to a new program, my grading is based on a point system. The point value for each assignment will vary.
