
Introduction:
Racquetball and tennis are two very popular racquet games
played in the United States. Of course tennis is played world wide
while racquetball is mainly played in the U.S. Racquetball is a
little easier to master than tennis, however it is a much quicker
game and probably involves as much running even though its played
in a smaller and more confined area. Both games take good hand-eye
coordination and can be enjoyed well into your senior years of
life. Racquetball like tennis can be played in signals or doubles.
Objectives:
- To obtain 40 minutes of cardiovascular and big muscle
activity.
- To learn the skills necessary to enjoy tennis and racquetball.
- Learning about singles and doubles competition.
- Learning the rules of tennis and racquetball and how
tournaments are set up.
- Learn and practice the situations that arise in singles and
doubles tennis and racquetball.
Individual Skills Involved:
- Learning the proper grip on the racquet.
- Learning to hit a forehand shot.
- Learning to hit a backhand shot.
- Learning to hit a serve.
Racquetball and Tennis
We use the same rules as any tennis or racquetball match.
Coach Shore’s Thoughts:
Tennis and Racquetball are two of the all time great
recreational sports. You find youngsters starting to play as young
as 3 years old and seniors in their 80s still playing. Tennis and
racquetball are games that students should experience at as early
age as possible.
